Last year, Alaska Interfaith Power & Light sponsored an interfaith celebration of Ramadan, an important religious observance for Muslims. Out of this experience, many relationships and desires for more connections were formed. Last week, many of the same people met at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairbanks to share food, stories and gather in fellowship.
“This is what world peace looks like, if you could look at it. This is the picture,” said George Riley, a member of Christ Lutheran. The potluck was organized by Christ Lutheran Pastor Susan Granata and Imam Ataur Chowdury to nurture the relationships that started at the Alaska IPL event. More events are planned for the near future, including community service projects.
