Lincoln Journal Star: Pipeline comment period ends Friday

From registered nurses to state senators to politically minded preachers, proponents and foes of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline are prodding supporters to action in the final days of the latest public comment period for the controversial pipeline.

While some questioned whether the letters flooding the U.S. State Department will have much effect on President Barack Obama’s decision, neither side seemed willing to risk not letting their view be heard.

“I don’t know necessarily if it is as important as the science is behind the project within the State Department to review,” said Ron Kaminski, business manager for Nebraska Local 1140 of the Laborers International Union of North America, which has called for approval of a federal permit being sought by TransCanada for the Keystone XL.
