The National Religious Coalition on Creation Care meets annually to pray, plan, advocate and network around the issue of religious voices in Earth stewardship. This year, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson was given the NRCCC’s “Steward of Creation Award” for her commitment to strong moral leadership around EPA policy, especially regarding clean air and water. Active Interfaith Power & Light faith leader Rabbi Fred Dobb laments, “Somehow, despite strong statements from religious leaders and much scholarship at the intersection of religion and ecology, the message hasn’t sufficiently gotten through.” Lisa Jackson was honored because her work brings this awareness and protection to the forefront of public policy.
