In this article, Alaska Interfaith Power & Light Executive Director Mary Walker discusses how energy efficiency measures can help congregations both care for the earth and reduce costs. Alaska Senate Bill 32 would appropriate $10 million for an energy efficiency and alternative energy revolving loan fund, providing loans at premium rates for Alaska’s congregations, other nonprofits and businesses. This extra bit of help could be the push that these institutions need to become better stewards of the earth and congregational resources.
