Carbon rules follow biblical command to take care of planet

I have come to believe that the most important religious, ethical, moral and scientific issue facing us is climate change. Since I am a pastor, I am most moved by the religious, ethical, and moral points of view, especially as they are informed by Scripture. In Genesis, we are charged with the tasks of being co-creators with God, with specific instructions to tend and protect what God has made. Some passages even imply that care for the Earth is tantamount to serving the God we worship (“God is all and in all” – 1 Corinthians 15:28). Care of creation has become the organizing principle and primary focus of my work both as a pastor and as a private citizen. Read full article
