The Independent: Local church hosts pipeline discussion

The Rev. Kenneth Moore, representing Nebraska Interfaith Power & Light, met with others at St. Stephan’s Episcopal Church in Grand Island to discuss the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. Moore said that IPL opposes the Keystone XL pipeline because the Ogallala Aquifer located under Nebraska is an important source for the 93,000 wells covering the 8.5 million acres. He also noted that the use of tar sands will not continue assisting the U.S. to move towards clean renewable energy, but rather continue delaying it.
